POSITION SUMMARY

Fast growing Association Management Company looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team! You will be responsible for reconciling bank and investment accounts, preparing and analyzing financial records, and additional financial duties for our diverse association clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts for a diverse client base
  • Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
  • Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting
  • Manage the cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy
  • Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation
  • Liaise with the association Treasurer, Finance Committee and/or Audit Committee as appropriate
  • Assist Management Services Executives/Supervisors and the Board Treasurers with financial reporting as required
  • Create and adhere to risk management policies and procedures to ensure that program and organizational risks are minimized
  • Work with the Administrative Services Manager to define and adhere to internal controls
  • Maximize income where possible and appropriate
  • Negotiate with Bank for lines of credit or other financial services as required and appropriate

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Generally a standard office environment
  • Generally works a standard work week
  • May be required to work some overtime hours to attend client meetings of the Board and during specific periods of the accounting cycle

Requirements

  • University degree or college diploma in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Management/Administration
  • Previous experience in non-profit accounting for 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3) highly preferred
  • Proficient in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with QuickBooks required. QuickBooks Online preferred
  • Detail and deadline-oriented
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of dealing and interacting with non-profit Boards of Directors highly desired.
